SMALL BRAVERIES FLEDGES FROM THE NEST
The new CD on Azalea City Recordings celebrates everyday acts of kindness and courage. Lee Michael Demsey, Folk and Bluegrass host on Public Radio WAMU says "Small Braveries asks you to reflect on life, and it makes you smile."
Mary Sue Twohy, Program Director, SiriusXM Satellite Radio adds "Carey's beautiful voice opens not only my mind, but more importantly, my heart."

Small Braveries has been appearing on the Folk and Roots charts since its release, making some DJs' top picks for 2012! Recently Rich Warren's syndicated program The Midnight Special on WFMT aired an island-tinged song by Beth Nielsen Chapman and Kimmie Rhodes from Small Braveries called "Shine All Your Light." In another syndicated show, Tom Druckenmiller of Sing Out! Radio Magazine played Carey's new version of an Arkansas blues song by Crow Johnson Evans, "Holdin' Down the Couch."

HEART EXPANSION ‘ROUND THE WORLD
Carey’s recorded music has been used in some exciting ways, such as:
- in a video about the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge, a charity with folks from all three major Abrahamic faiths and many other religions working together to help local people--many of whom have suffered from the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina and Gustav.
- as a selection aired within a broadcast marking Yom HaShoah-Holocaust Day and again during Israel's election week. The program is WorldWaves, dedicated to "Peace through good music" on Radio Upper Galilee, Israel which broadcasts across the Lebanese border. (Menachem Vinegrad, the host, is also co-organizer of Jacob's Ladder Festival, an acoustic music lovefest in its 35th year, now held in winter and spring).
- at Body, Mind & Spirit gatherings, yoga classes, and women's spirituality groups.
- on Danny Watson's Folk Show in Australia, where the host pondered--through selected songs--the meaning of war, in conjunction with ANZAC Day (roughly the Australian and New Zealand equivalent to our Memorial Day).

JODY MARSHALL'S HOLIDAY RECORDING
It was a hoot for Carey being the guest lead vocalist on Jody's EP, The Man from Arctic Circle. The recording is a light-hearted look at the holidays which features playful parodies, merry memories, and irresistible instrumentals performed on hammered dulcimer, piano, percussion, fiddle, and various jingly and chimey things. Baby boomers take note: Includes just enough nostalgia to make you long for the days when Spam was merely a mysterious meat-like substance.

MID-ATLANTIC SONG COMPETITION AWARD
Carey won the 2011 Silver Award in the Children’s category of the Mid-Atlantic Song Competition (MASC) sponsored by the Songwriters’ Association of Washington, which receives entries from far beyond the mid-Atlantic region. She and enchanting hammered dulcimer player Jody Marshall performed the winning song, "Who Do I Love?" at the Awards Gala.
The song is an unusual lullaby where the singer is inviting the young one to choose to spend some quiet time together just greeting the stars…or even to stay awake and share how the child felt about his/her day. The song is on Carey’s Peace of Wild Things CD, but is also included in a new compilation of the winning compositions. Here’s a link to find out more about the Songwriters’ Association of Washington’s excellent workshops, MASC, CD compilations, and performance venues: www.saw.org.
Jody Marshall co-produced and performed on Peace of Wild Things. For more about Jody’s many musical talents and doings, please see www.jodymarshall.net.

MAHBOOD LEN SELIGMAN'S CD
Mahbood Len Seligman’s Wammie-nominated CD, Head Over Heels, features Carey in a duet with Len, and in harmony with vibrant vocalist Wendy Lanxner. Len is a fine singer/multi-instrumentalist and long-time student of Sufism who often provides original music in diverse styles for interfaith worship.
Cellist David Darling has commented about Len: “…soulful, virtuoso guitar playing; without a doubt, one of my favorite guitarists,” and interfaith spiritual leader/author Rabbi Zalman Shachter-Shalomi says: “Mahbood’s music is a delight. His new recording has realized the voices of great mystics from many cultures for contemporary America…Let your spirit soar with these songs.” To hear clips, find out more about Mahbood, and purchase your own copy of Head Over Heels, see www.mahbood.com.

CDS BY LYNN HOLLYFIELD AND GRACE GRIFFITH
At several concerts with Lynn Hollyfield and her band, Carey has been providing harmony and keyboard; among Lynn's original songs at these shows are those from her wise, lyrical Layers CD. Later this year, Lynn is slated to release a new recording featuring more of her inspiring songs, with some harmony vocals by Carey.
Blix Street Records has issued Sailing, a retrospective of highlights from Grace Griffith's beautiful bounty of recordings --no easy feat, since everything Grace touches musically is a heart-filled gem. One of the songs which made the cut on the new CD features Carey and Grace in harmony on Leslie Phillips' "Carry You." Grace has a new CD being produced and engineered at Williams-Biondo studio, to be released by Blix Street - stay tuned!
